History

Codan Rubber founde by Albert Theilgaard

1908

Founded by engineer Albert Theilgaard. He had invented and patented a method of vulcanization resulting in the possibility of reusing old rubber.

Codan sneaker production

1920-30

The production of sneakers and boots gets mechanized with the introduction of conveyorbelts. Introduction of shift work.

Dansk Galoche- og gummifabrik

1925

Established as ‘Dansk Galoche- og Gummifabrik’. Manufacture of rubber footwear, tyres for bicycles, mouldings and profiles.

Codan employed an increasing amount of women

1930-40

The factory reached a level of 500-700 employees. The share of women workers  was gradualy increasing.

First OEM contract to Volvo and Nilfisk

1954

The first OEM contract to Volvo and industrial hoses to Nilfisk.

Footwear production ceases

1960

In the 1960s the factory ceased production of the non-profitable footwear.

Codan name change

1964

The company

ISO9001

1988

Codan achieves the
ISO9001 Quality certificate

Contact with Renault

1989

First significant 3-year contract to Renault

Rubber hose assemblies

1995

Production change from only rubber hoses to include assemblies

Shaped ruber hose production

1997

Established shaped rubber hose production in the UK

Tube bending

Established own tube bending facility in Køge
